Fouke Elementary students attend art class with Mrs. Giles, (AKA the Queen) once a week for 40 minutes. Experiencing art is important to a child’s cognitive development and is unique to every child. Therefore grades are assigned based on participation and not how well a student can draw, paint or sculpt according to a pre-determined standard. Art class at Fouke Elementary includes making art, critiquing art, studying art history and art appreciation. Also, reading, writing, math, science, social studies  and geography are integrated into art lessons. Students are encouraged not only to create, but also to talk about art and how it influences us in every aspect of life. Art is a universal language and students at Fouke Elementary are learning the basics of how to speak “ART!”
